TECH NOTES:
Installing and Running Tmpro (all versions)
Including: HOW TO STOP
NORTON ANTI VIRUS FROM SCANNING TMPRO
TROUBLESHOOTING
TMPRO
If everything
works fine when you open Word and go to File>New and select
Tickets.dot from "Templates On My Computer", you are set to go.
If not, the two major reasons for failure are: 1)
Tools>Macro>Security not set to Low, and 2) You are not logged
in as the User who installed Microsoft Word. When we install
the Tickets template we look for the location of your other Word
templates. If you are logged in as TomSmith and MaryJones was
the user when Word was installed, you will not be able to see
your templates. You will see this when you get to the
"Installing Template" screen.
INSTALLING
TMPRO
We look for the file "winword.exe"
to locate your new Tickets folder.
We look for the template "normal.dot"
to locate your new Tickets template. Write down the EXACT
location where we are installing the template.
If you do not see tickets.dot when you go to Word>File>New, then
got to Word>Tools>Options>File Locations and set UserTemplates
to the SAME
location where we found your Word templates. This is the
recommended setting for Word. If your templates are in say the "AllUsers"
account and your templates are set to the "JohnDoe" account,
tickets will not be visible in your list of templates!
If you have more than one
version of Word on your machine, we use the first one. The
could be a problem, and you may have to Search for winword.exe
yourself and locate your Tickets folder there manually, or run
tmpro11.exe and change the definition by selecting the correct
directory.
When you run "Tickets" from
File>New but do not find Tickets listed, look under
Tools>Options>File Locations and select UserTemplates (third
item down). Be certain that it is set to the same location
where you found normal.dot!
Finally, make certain that
you have set Security to Low. Word cannot run any macros unless
Security is set to Low. Word does no checking for viruses
whatsoever, so you are not compromising your machine.
Also, if you do not see file
extensions (if you see tickets instead of tickets.dot), go to
Start>Control Panel>Tools>File Options>View and set Hidden Files
and Folders to Show All Files, and be sure the next checkbox --
Hide File Extensions for Known File Types is UNCHECKED.
DON'T SEE TICKETS.DOT UNDER
TEMPLATES?
Do a search for Tickets.dot, then drag it out to the Desktop and
launch it from there by double-clicking on it.
USING TMPRO
1) To use TMpro, open Word and
go to File>New.
2)
Select tickets.dot from Templates On My Computer or General
Templates
3)
When Tmpro Ticket Selector opens, select vstyle08 as a test.
4)
When Open screen appears showing all sample style8 tickets,
select ORIB.
5) Remove text from ticket area and type 'mysample'.
6) Press TktSave icon and save your ticket as either your name,
or 'mysample' -- be sure to retain quote marks and file
extension! We cannot find .doc files.
7)
Press Footprints on Tmpro Floating Toolbar.
8) From Tmpro Number Selector, select 40 quantity as a test, or
Sample to print VOID instead of numbers.
You now have the file mytkt.tmp on screen. Inspect number
sequence to see how Tmpro keeps your numbers in sequence after
being cut.
Repeat process until you
have your ticket exactly like you want it. When you make a good
version of mytkt.tmp, save it as 'myprintfile1' or
'myprintfile2'... never try to print large files in one pass.
Break your printing up into say 200 or 500 or 1000 at a time.
Avoid uneven quantities. They hard to keep track of.
